M-C Lamarre of Basketcase MV

M-C Lamarre is the artist and maker behind BasketCaseMV, the modern take on rope basketry.  Nautically inspired, with clean lines, ethically sourced materials, made in the USA, and a simplicity lend it to being a classic and functional piece of home decor or accessory.  While having never sewn a basket prior to the pandemic, M-C was determined to fill the void created in her work from the pandemic.

Prior to 2019, for the past 16 years you would find M-C with a brush in hand and a bag packed heading out at the request of her clients, both residential and commercial, to transform walls across the country and Canada with a little paint, and a lot of creativity.  M-C found a unique niche as a muralist, most noted for her meticulous rendering of the likeness of Fenway Park’s iconic Green Monster, which she has painted over 200 in 25 states and Canada!

From baseball to baskets, and everything in between, M-C has always been creatively driven.  She graduated from Providence College with a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts, with a concentration in ceramics.  She was bit by the travel bug during her Junior Year abroad in Florence, Italy.  It was there she took her first and only painting class.  She graduated in 1996, and began a career in the Boston area in 1996, she went on to be Tour Manager for Artrain USA, the nation’s only traveling art museum on a train.  With both a passion and love for both the arts and art education, M-C has fostered a fulltime career as an independent artist since 2004.

Handmade rope baskets, designed, sewn and painted on Martha's Vineyard.
